Paul Krizek seeks third term in Virginia’s House of Delegates

Paul Krizek is officially seeking a third term as state delegate of Virginia’s 44th District.
In his email newsletter sent on March 14, 2019, Krizek confirmed that he has submitted his paperwork for re-election and a petition with “well over” 200 voter signatures to the Fairfax County Democratic Committee, specifically 44th District Democratic Chair Mary Paden.
Krizek noted that his re-election bid “will be challenging,” since Republicans have specifically targeted the blue 44th District in a bid to safeguard their majority in the Virginia General Assembly.
It’s not clear if anyone will challenge Krizek in the Democratic Party primary, but the seat will likely be contested in the Nov. 5 general election.
In February, Richard Hayden announced his bid for the 44th District on the Republican ticket.
The Republican Party did not put up any candidate against Krizek in the two previous general elections: 2015 and 2017. He did defeat Justin Brown to win the 2015 Democrat primary.
However things shake out, Krizek will likely face scrutiny over his support for fellow State Delegate Kathy Tran’s (42nd District) legislation that would have eased regulations for late-term abortions.
In February, Krizek’s local church was littered with negative flyers over his support for Tran’s controversial House Bill 2491. Tran also recently announced her bid for re-election.
“I am counting on your grassroots support to run an organized and expansive campaign,” Krizek stated.
“The first step to a new Democratic majority is reelecting all of our incumbents.”
